Games and Rewards: A Scientometric Study of Rewards in Educational and Serious Games

In this study we provide a new viewpoint on the body of literature regarding rewards in serious and educational games. The includes quantitative bibliometric analysis context from 1969 to 2020. dataset Scopus abstract citation database was analyzed with Bibliometrix R library. data set manually cleaned contain only relevant articles conference papers. then categorized match common themes. From remaining documents, amount annual numbers publications is presented most contributing countries are shown. frequent terms abstracts keywords by authors presented, co-occurrence network drawn same data. results reveal that occurring topics gamification, physical activity, health, game design, game-based learning. New directions for research provided as commonly used media appear be video games mobile devices addition being mostly focused theory not practical application.
